at our meeting last night there was a talk about having run out of magazines for the last three months.
it's expected this will continue to happen.
the "branch" has not sent the requested number of magazines.
Cash flow in the Organization is always a necessary concern. As everyone knows though the literature is printed and written by volunteers the fact remains that the paper, ink and other necessary materials cost money and the costs are, I imagine, rising on a consistent basis. The costs for housing a vast volunteer force have I'm sure also risen. Add to this their wrong headed idea of building what we cannot afford and a tsunami of financial destruction is likely on its way.
As has already been pointed out the current problem is partly the result of the decision to go from a required payment at the literature counter to what has become a voluntary offering. That was a mistake. At one time the cost for a set of mags was ten cents with pioneers getting it a little cheaper to help with their expenses. A year's subscription for the Watchtower $1.00.
That of course was in a galaxy far far away where hope was palpable where we were happy to give more if asked. Where we at least felt well fed and trusted the leadership who produced what seemed to us good food at the proper time- the end. But today the leadership has decided to make the end an invisible end (while also keeping the mice endlessly running the wheel just as fast) and they seem to believe they can dance and sing and produce garbage and my generation will forget. No we are not forgetting, we remember.
Now I pay nothing because I'm getting nothing. The magazines are not worth the paper they're printed on. Pretty pictures and Goop repeatedly put on the plate do not feed the soul. Rehashing what the previous Governing Body already did and wrote does not feed the mind. We need food, we are given slop presented as food. No thanks!
I'm voting with my wallet, the only vote the Watchtower has ever allowed us to have.

in 1897, j.j. thomson discovered the electron.
this was the first constituent part of the atom which, for 2,000 years, was thought to be indivisible.
today, we know of 18 elemental particles following the recent discovery of the higgs boson, the so-called god particle.. back in 1897, most people believed in god because there weren't even any theories as to how the universe came into being.
Doltologist: As Dawkins predicts, deity-based religions will disappear and be dispatched to the waste paper bin of history within a generation.
You are being sold a load of goods that will never take place. Richard Dawkins makes his money by selling something he knows will not happen even in a hundred generations. He is laughing his way to the bank unless of course he truly believes what he is saying and in that case he is just as deluded and naive as he claims the religious are.
Religion has been woven into the sociological DNA of mankind so deeply and intricately that to remove it as quickly as you have apparently been led to believe would be to cast the earth in such turmoil as never seen in the history of mankind.
What will the world governments do with billions of dirt poor people who today have little to no hope of getting out of their miserable state of poverty but would then also lose any hope of a better life after death? Imagine the poor in India, Imagine the poor in South America. The poor in Africa. No religion, no hope, no control, nothing but the present which for many is a life hard to live.
Dawkins is not stupid. He knows the governments of the world cannot for long allow anarchy and hopelessness take root in billions of people. Governments need religion. It has always been that way and will always be that way.
Call it what you will...pacification or respect for traditions. Either way the governments of the world must either give the majority of their people a good life now (which they cannot) or allow them to hope for a good life later. They cannot give them a rotten life now and no life later. It won't work. Religion fills a need that government cannot provide. Religion gives hope. Government uses that hope, government needs that hope.
Take away religion in the world and when the governments fail to provide for the people they will turn to someone who will offer them hope. A new religion will form and promise hope and people will flock to it. This is the way we are. You believe evolution made us? Fine, then accept the fact that evolution put within most people the need to worship a higher power. The need for hope in a better life to come. If you believe in evolution then evolution is the cause of this hope.
Dawkins false hope will not take hold in the billions around the world who believe in God or multiple gods. He is leading a happy line of people who, living mostly in the comfortable west, cannot understand the deep-seated satisfaction that religion and religious practices/traditions bring to billions around the world. They will not let it go.
You are being misled.

My Father served in the second World War. He served in the South Pacific. He loved his time in the military and my mother was more than supporting. She helped the war effort in every way she could. When my father returned I was conceived and my life was filled with every good thing they could provide.
He was a good man. She was a good woman.
Are they truly never to be seen again?
Is that what most here believe? Truly?
when it finally clicked,.
and you realized there was no 1914, there was no generation that would see the end of a wicked system, there was no paradise around the corner, .
what went through you mind?.
Is this the fruit of evolution? Is this what lurkers should look forward to? Dark days in sad thought with no hope?
I see no benefit to atheism.
Doug, I know you mean well and are sincere but I cannot agree, Your sources are faulty,
